How does Coolsculpting system work ?
One or two suction and cooling heads (independently controlled) with large surface areas are placed on the areas to be treated. The Coolsculpting cooling heads generate a vacuum that temporarily decreases blood flow to the treated area, immobilizing the fat tissue, and isolating the treated area from surrounding tissue.
Low temperature (0° C to - 5 °C depending on the thickness of the fat tissue (which is measured before each treatment with special calipers), is then applied to the area in a controlled process, 'freezing' the localized area for a controlled period of time. Once the cooling procedure is completed, the fat cells crystallize and after melting the broken fat cells release the lipids into the lymphatic system, which will gradually eliminate them by natural metabolism. Skin isn't damaged, but subcutaneous fat, which is more sensitive to targeted cold, begins a two to three month long dissolution after each Coolsculpting procedure.
Coolsculpting treatment's results can be enhanced by using Vela shape, Lipolaser and RF sessions in between each treatment, which helps by increasing the breakage of the broken fat cells, lymph drainage and skin tightening. The procedure is performed in a licensed and authorized Cryo clinic and supervised by a trained professional. There is no anesthesia or recovery time needed.
After the Coolsculpting treatment, clients may immediately return to their normal activities including work and exercise. Fat cells are more sensitive to low temperatures than surrounding tissues. This makes it possible to crystallize (freeze) these unwanted cells in dedicated areas by using cryolipolysis technology..
When these fat cells melt they go to apoptosis (start to die) which causes the fat inside them to convert into lipids, which in return are removed from the body via normal metabolism. Since this is slow, gradual process the released lipids do not create stress on liver or other normal bodily functions. The destroyed fat cells do no regenerate, which helps to maintain the achieved results.
After fat cells are exposed to sub zero temperatures for a prolonged period of time, they freeze and crystallize like we can see in the picture on the left. Freezing causes apoptosis of the fat cells, in other words they die and their structure "collapses" causing the smaller fat particles - the lipids - to dissolve into normal metabolic circulation. In this form, liver will turn the lipids into energy which decreases the appetite and at the same time removes and reduces the fat content of the body.
